This woman is 103, but that didn’t stop her from offering me coquito (Puertorrican eggnog) and tostones (fried┬áplantain)…well more like forced me to because she didn’t want to drink and eat them alone. She has very poor vision, which is no surprise for her age but that didn’t stop her from demanding that she looks beautiful in her pictures.

Nani_January 04, 2014-26She quaintly offered me coquito but it couldn’t be served in any ordinary cup….no, she used a cup made in 1916 that was passed down to her by her mother. Her entire home is filled with history.

This is the face of a woman who can recall very specific moments in her life with excruciating detail.

We can only hope that at 103 we are still capable of frying our own tostones.
